This pack helps an employer handle and process flexible working appeals against an original flexible working request decision.

This pack includes five documents aimed at ensuring an employer complies with their legal obligations, requesting more information from an employee, confirming a final appeal decisions and helping both parties reach a mutually acceptable conclusion to the matter.

All appeal decision outcome letters clearly communicate employee rights and responsibilities, that the decision is final and when an employee can re-apply for flexible working.

Pack contains:

Employee appeal form: flexible working appeal form (employee completes and returns form, recording: appeal reasons; personal circumstances; additional information for consideration; any alternative working arrangements; and original request details).

Employer appeal letters to send an employee:

  • appeal hearing invitation letter (to explore reasons for appeal and other considerations)
  • decision - appeal agreement letter (outlines new hours, days, role and contract terms)
  • decision - appeal decline letter (no change to existing employment details)
  • decision - counter-offer letter (offer of alternative flexible working)
